Okay first of all, I LOVE BUSY PHILLIPS. I’ve loved her since she was Kim Kelly on Freaks & Geeks and I honestly have no clue why she’s not in more stuff. She’s hilarious and I want to be best friends with her. She’s one of the few actresses where I’ve felt like she’s actually got a similar sense of humour to me and like we could really just vibe together. If that makes any sense at all. But her book is hilarious and I can really just picture her reading it out loud.
This book was a quick read that I got for Christmas this year and I love it. I finished it in a couple days and it’s just a really good book that you don’t want to put down. I almost cancelled getting burritos with a friend because I didn’t want to put this down and if you know me in real life, you know I hardly ever pass up burritos. Let alone one from one of my favourite places with an old friend.
But this book is a memoir of sorts. It follows Busy Phillis, as all memoirs do, from her childhood in Illinois and Arizona to her crushing it in Hollywood with all the gross in between growing pains we all go thru. I love reading celebrity memoirs not only to feel better about my own life but so that with all this gross messy stuff going on in my life right now, I just need the reminder sometimes that life can and will get better. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it.
But Phillips is that best friend you’ve always wanted growing up. Who’ll cry with you, hold your hair back, and help you crush your dreams. She’s hilarious, honest, and phenomenal. Her story is amazing and I want to meet her in real life. Internet, hook me up.
Anyway, buy this book wherever books are sold. Whether it’s Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, or your local independent bookstore. Read this book!
