I cannot rave about this book enough. It’s utterly fascinating. And if you’ve been following my blog for a bit, I’ve mentioned here and there that I’m a total fan of meditation. It’s relaxing, helps me fall asleep quicker, and mentally prepares me for the day as well. Interesting thing about this book – my gramma read this and sent it to my mom while she was just new to Dallas and she fell in love with it. So my mom decided to send it to me, since I’m new to town and still trying to adequately deal with my anxiety.
And let me tell you, this book is awesome. It’s a realistic, human approach to not only Buddhism as a whole but Zen Buddhism and the great benefits of meditation. It’s an amazing look into what it actually means to be a Buddhist and that it’s not all about enlightenment or trying to be the next Buddha. It’s about being one with yourself and trying to figure out how to be one with yourself, with the moment, as well as bringing yourself into inner peace.
I couldn’t put this book down. I know it sounds like i say that a lot but this book was breathtakingly educational about something I’ve always wanted to know more about as well as how I could put some of its ideas into practice for a real human being. Pick up Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind off Amazon or at your local bookstore. It’s a fabulous introduction to meditation and to Buddhism.
