Opening Belle by Maureen Sherry

This book is wonderful. It’s a total beach read and a breeze to read (pun intended!) but it’s an important story line that unfortunately too many working women can relate to. Balancing it all while still feeling the need to shatter the glass ceiling that you’re not even sure where it ends or starts.

Opening Belle  follows the protagonist, Belle, through her career as a seriously awesome managing director at a stock broking firm while trying to balance her family life, her lazy spouse, and an ex-fiance coming back into the scene. It explores what it’s like to be a working woman in a male dominated field and what it takes to really make it to the top. Just how much do you sacrifice for your dreams?

Though it is a totally cliché beach read, it does bring up a lot of important points throughout it. And it’s all about following that quintessential female intuition that is almost never wrong. It was a really quick read too, I almost didn’t realize just how quickly I finished it!

So go pick it up from Amazon or your local bookstore. It’s the perfect way to unwind from a long day hustling at your dream job or just trying to make ends meet. I promise you’ll realize you’re not the only one who’s tired of coworkers making crude jokes at work or if you’re the only one wanting to break through stereotypes in whatever field you’re in.

And plus, Reese Witherspoon and her fantastic production company just bought the rights to the book so it’s being made into a movie! Can’t wait to see how she runs with bringing this book to the big screen.
